The course will be 75% singletrack and 25% dirt/gravel service roads...and it'll kick your ass. Our 50k runners will suffer thru 7-8000ft of elevation gain on some of the roughest trails Kitsap has to offer. Both 25k and 50k runners will enjoy some beautiful views from the summit and ridges of Green Mountain. The course will be well-marked again with surveyor's ribbon and bright yellow signs at critical intersections.
Expect good food, friendly faces, and possibly some PBR. Food will be served a little differently this year - our volunteers will provide you with single servings. We'll still have a solid assortment of foods though --chips, quesadillas, guacamole, watermelon, and an assortment of candy and sugary goodness. Keep in mind that this is a cupless race, so don’t forget to bring a hydration bladder to fill up!
Camping at Green Mountain Horse Camp will be available this weekend, from Friday thru Sunday. There are vault toilets available, but no potable water or showers, so make sure to bring your own. Campsites are first come, first serve. We have always had plenty of sites available for tents. There are some pull-thru sites available as well.
This year, to accommodate social distancing, we are having staggered start times throughout the morning. The first wave of 50k runners will start at 7:30am. We will allow waves of 10 runners to start every 15 minutes. We will be operating analogue this year, meaning hand-recorded times. You'll check in with our timekeeper before starting to record the time, and you'll check in when you finish. As a result of this, finalized results will take longer to publish this year, and we'll mail awards to the winners.
• Time slots from 0730 - 0845 are reserved for 50k runners, to allow them enough time to finish the course.
• Time slots from 0900 - 1200 are reserved for 25k runners
• If you have a friend or running partner you'd like to be paired in the same wave with, please specify that on your registration. Otherwise, start waves will be assigned based on Ultrasignup ranking.
•We will not take emailed requests for start wave buddy pairing. PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS IS COMPLETED ON YOUR REGISTRATION.
•Once finalized during the week prior to race day, your wave start time cannot be changed.
Since the vast majority of race costs are incurred prior to a race and are non-refundable, we do not issue refunds for race registrations. Merchandise must be picked up at the race you registered for. We do not mail merchandise or swag. If you don’t pick it up, you forfeit the merchandise/swag.
In the event that you are unable to participate in our race, you have two options:
• Defer your entry to the following year. For 2021, due to COVID-19, deferments may be made UP TO the day before the race. Runners who defer will receive a 50% credit towards the following year’s race.
• Transfer your bib to another runner.
We allow bib transfer, but it must be done thru Ultrasignup, and it must be completed no later than 7 days prior to race day.
We allow runners to switch distance. This must be completed no later than 7 days prior to race day. Runners can edit their registration/switch distances using Ultrasignup. Generally, our 50k registration costs more than the 25k. Runners swapping for a longer distance will need to pay the remaining cost difference. There will be no refunds to those runners who are swapping for the shorter distance.
Deferrals **Updated for 2021**
Runners can defer their race entry to the next year if they cannot make it due to illness. Runners who defer will receive a 50% credit towards the following year’s race. You cannot defer more than one time. Please note that requests for deferral must be sent to the race director no later than the day before the race; Friday evening at midnight is the cutoff.
Our goal is always to provide an enjoyable, safe race experience. Despite our best efforts though, there may be circumstances outside of our control which require us to cancel the race. Some of these possibilities include wildfires, hazardous air quality, unanticipated road/trail closures, dangerous animals on the course, hazardous weather (lightning/wind storms), or other natural or human-caused acts. We never want to cancel a race; and will do so only if the safety risk is great. If the race is cancelled, runners may defer 100% of their entry to the following year.
